When life feels fragmented, it’s easy to forget what it means to be fully human.
In modern society, we’ve lost touch with the practices that once nourished our hearts and communities: ceremony, ritual, shared presence. That absence leaves a quiet longing, a sense of disconnection, and a feeling that something vital is missing.
The Heart of Being Human is more than conversation. It’s a space to reclaim what we’ve lost: connection, meaning, and the courage to show up fully in life.
Here, honest conversations move beyond surface-level chatter. You’ll reflect, share, and listen in ways that cultivate presence, offer clarity & insights, and foster connection with yourself and others.
Join the dozens of people who have discovered a place to move from:
isolation to connection,
confusion to clarity, &
everyday drift to mindful engagement with life.
We gather every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Free. Online. All are welcome.
What People Are Saying
“When I hear other people sharing their stories, I know that I'm not the only one going through this. To be in this room with everybody is a gift.”
“I really appreciate the opportunity to have some reflection in our busy world. It's so easy just to keep putting one foot in front of the other. And not take some time for reflection or integration.”
“I joined with no expectation and found it was just what I needed to crack open my heart in a way I didn’t expect but so deeply appreciate.”
“I'm in this place in my life where I’m searching for meaning, and knowing that I need a different circle to engage with. To hear new voices…I need to hear something different to challenge me. So, of course, Karla, when you sent this invitation…it's like I'm being heard, just receiving it.”
“Thanks to all of the folks for showing up with courage to share and build community and connection. In a world that is deeply divided and disconnected this is an amazing space to build shared meaning.”
“And there's something really healing in seeing how that's not just my own conundrum. That there are so many around me [with similar experiences]. Seeing the ripple somehow makes me feel more connected and less siloed in this exploration.”
What You Can Expect
Move from isolation to connection:
Experience the power of a community that listens, shares, and reflects together
Tune into your intuition:
Pause, reflect, and gain perspective on life’s challenges and everyday wonders
Step into intention:
Transition from simply getting through your days to living with purpose and presence.
Witness and be witnessed:
Share your story or simply observe, and feel seen, held, and understood. We were not meant to do life alone.
If you sense there is a deeper layer available in life or a transition you are navigating, or if you simply long for real conversations, I’d love for you to join us!
We gather every 2nd and 4th Thursday of the month. Free. Online. All are welcome.
“You have such a gift for deep, deep listening, Karla. Your words after someone has shared always affirm that you were fully present with them and that you ‘get’ what they were saying.”
— Dawn Guenther
How It Works
Every 2nd and 4th Thursday, we gather online for The Heart of Being Human to breathe, reflect, and be reminded that none of us walks this path alone.
Each conversation unfolds naturally — we don’t set an end time, but gatherings usually run 1.5–2 hours. You are welcome to drop off whenever you need.
A new Zoom link is created for each session. If you’d like to be notified whenever a new conversation is scheduled, please click the button below.

Echoes from Past Gatherings
Karla created a small intimate community where I could explore aspects of my life in a deeper, more thoughtful way.
~ Patti Soltys ~
Karla is a passionate human that has listened to her calling! Through guiding and supporting others to get clear on their beliefs and values, she helps bring our focus to relationships and life.
~ Meg Freeman ~
There was something very deep [Karla] tapped into for me, which was very unexpected. I could feel it in my soul.
~ Walayn Sharples ~
I have been so taken by Karla’s demeanor, sensitivity to others and philosophy of life. She is someone whose integrity and passion for life is a part of her ‘way of being’ in the world. She is one of those rare people who appears as a teacher in one’s own life journey.

About your host
I’m Karla Combres. Over the past decade, I’ve helped hundreds of people pause, reflect, and explore what matters most through workshops, one-on-one guidance, and custom ceremonies.
Beyond designing ceremonies or helping people capture their life stories, this work has always pointed to something deeper: the transitions, questions, and connections that shape our lives, from birth and death to love and loss, wonder and change, and everything in between.
The Heart of Being Human was born out of my desire to create a space to gather for these deeper conversations, to offer a place to pause, reflect, and explore what really matters — in community.
